Update on the viral story of the deceased student of Premiere Academy, Lugbe, Abuja, Miss Keren-Happuch Akpagher, https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/07/mysterious-death-of-14-year-old-schoolgirl-triggers-controversy-in-abuja/ is that the abscence of the Doctor of the family of the deceased stalled the autopsy ordered by the Nigerian Police at the Maitama General Hospital Abuja, on Saturday.
The autopsy was requested as part of the ongoing investigation by the police to ascertain the cause of death of the year one senior secondary student on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
Our correspondent gathered that both the Nigerian Police and Premiere Academy school had their representatives reporting for the autopsy, the Keren’s family was also represented by four members of the family but the particular Doctor that treated Keren was not available
Premiere Academy was represented by the principal, Chris Akinsowon and a renowned Consultant Histopathologist, Prof. Olusegun Ojo. He is of the Department of Morbid Anatomy and Forensic Medicine, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State.
Mr Chris Akinsowon, the Acting Principal was asked by newsmen If at the end of the police investigation, the school is indicted, will Premiere Academy take responsibility for what happened to Keren?
Akinsowon replied: “We are a law-abiding institution. The school will not shield anyone who may have been fingered over this wicked act, which we condemn in its entirety.
Whoever the culprit may be, no matter his affiliations, will be subjected to the school’s strict rules of engagement. After that, the offender shall be handed over to the Police for prosecution in accordance with the applicable laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and we will follow through to ensure Justice is served.”
