Resident Doctors call off nationwide strike
After holding a secret meeting with the Minister of Health, the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, has called off the strike action it embarked upon a week ago. The president of the association, Mr. Chinaka Ugochukwu, announced the suspension via a text message to Channels Television health correspondent in Abuja.
Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu withdraws plans to meet South-East Governors
Head of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Wednesday, withdrew from the planned talks between the the group and the South-East Governors Forum.
Kanu had earler met with the governors at the Enugu State Government House on August 30, and an agreement was reached on holding further talks to resolve the issues raised by the pro-Biafran group.
ASUU strike update: ASUU holds decisive meeting today
The National Executive Council of the ASUU will meet today, Thursday in Abuja to discuss whether the strike would be called off or not,
The negotiation team of ASUU had on Friday requested one week to submit the government’s offers to its members for consultation and report back to government.
Boko Haram Commander, others surrender to Nigerian Police
The Police in Borno on Wednesday revealed that a top Boko Haram commander alongside other members of the group had surrendered to the command in the state. DSP Victor Isuku, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), made the revelation in a statement issued in Maiduguri that the insurgents willingly surrendered to officers of the command.
Police sergeant killed by IPOB members in Rivers
The Rivers State commissioner of police, Zaki Ahmed has fingered the members of the IPOB in the alledged killing of a police sergeant at Oyigbo Junction in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on Wednesday.
The state commissioner of police, also stated the irate youths attacked and injured two other policemen and burnt down their patrol vehicle.
Dino Melaye appeals against judgment recall process
Sen. Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial District on Wednesday filed an eight-ground notice of appeal before the Court of Appeal in Abuja challenging the order of the Federal High Court in Abuja to commence his recall process.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, in his judgment permitted the Independent National Electoral Commission to proceed with the recall process of the senator.
Operation python dance: Abia extends curfew
Following fears over security situations in the state, arising from the face off between soldiers and IPOB members in Umuahia, the Abia state government has extended the curfew imposed on the state.
The new development was revealed in a statement released by Enyinnaya Appolos, the chief press secretary to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
